MINUTES OF A MEETING OF THE Hastings District Rural Community Board HELD IN THE Landmarks Room, Ground Floor, Civic Administration Building, Lyndon Road East, Hastings ON

That the minutes of the Hastings District Rural Community Board held Monday 28 May 2018 be confirmed as a true and correct record and be adopted.





Rural Transportation Activities Report

(Document 18/765,  EMG-01-14-10-18-33)


The Transportation Officer, Adam Jackson presented a report on the status of transportation programmed projects and activities. The report dealt with two storm events in March and June 2018, and Mr Jackson also reported on the storm event which happened the previous week in September 2018. As a result there was serious damage to rural roads from localised flooding, landslips and potholes.


The Chairman congratulated Mr Jackson on the way his team had responded to the incidents caused by adverse weather in the previous week.


It was noted that additional funding was essential to deal with “adverse” weather events which appeared to be increasing in terms of severity and regularity.

A)        That the report of the Transportation Operations Manager titled Rural Transportation Activities Report dated 10/09/2018 be received.

B)        That the local share shortfall from 2017/18 flood damage of $257,195 be approved from the Rural Flood Emergency Event Reserve.




Rating Area 2 - Financial Result

The Financial Controller tabled amended recommendations.

A)           That the report of the Financial Controller titled “Rating Area 2 Financial Result – 30 June 2018 dated 10/09/2018 be received.

B)          That Hastings Rural Community Board recommend to Council that the funds arising from the Rating Area Two surplus for the 2017/18 financial year of $424,274 and the Rating Area Two share of the Landfill surplus of $284,612 be allocated as follows:

The Chairman announced his intention to resign from the Rural Community Board with effect from 20 October 2018. The Mayor and members of the Board expressed their sincere regret at his decision to resign, and thanked him for his contribution to the Council and the rural community of Hastings District.
