The Chair, Mike Paku welcomed all members and visitors to the meeting and acknowledged the recent passing of Makere Phillips and Kīngi Tuheitia.

Tipene Cottrell/Councillor Apatu That apologies for absence from Councillor Kellie Jessup, Councillor Heather Te Au-Skipworth, Jerry Hapuku, Liz Waiwiri-Hunt and Charmaine Butler be accepted. That apologies for lateness of Councillor Heke be accepted. CARRIED

There were no declarations of conflicts of interest.
Councillor Heke joined the meeting at 1.20pm.
4. Confirmation of Minutes - TE WHAKAMANA I NGĀ MINITI

That the minutes of the Heretaunga Takoto Noa Māori Standing Committee Meeting held Wednesday 3 July 2024 be confirmed as an accurate record. |
With the agreement of the Committee item 7 was taken out of order to allow time for the guests to arrive for item 6.

Honey Lee Blakeney-Cabot (Piki Projects Consultant) and 3 Waters Manager, Steve Cave spoke to the report and responded to questions from the Committee.
Ngaio Tiuka left the room at 1.48pm and returned at 1.51pm.

Dr Jeremy Tātere McLeod and Traci Tuimaseve introduced themselves, showed a video (CG-17-5-00072) and gave the Committee an update on the success of the Toitū Te Reo Symposium and Street Festival.
Traci Tuimaseve acknowledged all the team members and staff of the Hastings District Council who assisted in making this event possible. |

A) That the Heretaunga Takoto Noa Māori Standing Committee receive the report titled Purchase of Kaumātua Jerry Hapuku portrait dated 11 September 2024. B) That the Committee support Council to purchase the portrait of Kaumātua Jerry Hapuku utilising the Abbott Bequest fund and that the portrait be installed in the Hastings District Council Chamber foyer. |
Councillor Montaperto-Hendry left the room at 3.09pm and returned at 3.11pm.
